Welcoming the season of Interfaith: Fostering Unity and Coexistence in Mutare

On Saturday, September 14th, the Imam Hussein Trust a.s. successfully hosted a landmark interfaith dialogue and unity program at Nyamauru Secondary School. The event, which promoted religious tolerance and coexistence, saw an encouraging turnout of over 100 participants, including members from various Christian denominations and Sufi Islam.

The enriching five-hour program (8:00 am to 1:00 pm) was opened by Sheikh Mustafa, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on Islam’s stance on religious respect. Sheikh Mustafa actively encouraged attendees to engage in a deeper study of Islam, citing powerful Quranic verses to reinforce the message of peace.

He specifically referenced:

Chapter 2:62: Highlighting God’s promise of paradise to righteous people of different faiths.

Chapter 2:256: Emphasizing the fundamental principle: “Let there be no compulsion in religion.”

Sheikh Mustafa strongly reiterated that Islam is a religion of peace, explicitly condemning extremist groups like Boko Haram, Al Qaeda, and ISIL. He clarified that these violent organizations do not represent true Islam, but are rather the result of political agendas seeking to defame the religion.

The message was clear: Islam stands firmly against oppression and violence, championing true unity and understanding among all people of faith.
