The event began with an opening ziyarat of Fatima Zahra (a.s), from Sister Balakazi, setting a reflective tone for the day. This was followed by heartfelt remarks by Sister Tresha Shaista,and warmly welcomed everyone, and the Madressa kids added a touch of joy with their uplifting song, perfectly capturing the essence of Fatima Zahra’s Day.
Sister Tendai Lewis, the master of ceremony, took the stage, effortlessly guiding the program and putting everyone at ease. Her infectious energy and warm smile set the tone for a joyous celebration, making sure everyone was in high spirits throughout the event.
The first speaker, Sumayah ,took the stage to highlight Fatima Zahra’s (a.s) remarkable life, emphasizing her compassion, kindness, and honesty. She encouraged the young generation to follow her example, citing Fatima Zahra’s (a.s) tireless efforts in helping the poor and treating people with love and respect. This powerful message set the tone for the rest of the event, inspiring attendees to strive for excellence in their own lives.
Sister Tabbiyah Balakazi,took the stage next, discussing women’s rights in Islam, including education, marriage, and participation in societal issues. The session was interactive, with engaging Question and Answer and recommendations, empowering women to claim their rightful place in society. This thought-provoking discussion sparked a lively exchange of ideas, highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment in modern society.
Sister Tresha Shaista explained the theme, sharing Fatima Zahra’s (a.s) inspiring story and defining what makes a real woman. She outlined six steps to achieve excellence, empowering women to positively impact their families and communities. With conviction and passion, she emphasized that a woman is a foundation of society, a source of strength, and a seeker of excellence, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Sister Cynthia, a Christian businesswoman, took the stage to emphasize modest dressing and its benefits, showcasing her modern clothing designs. She encouraged women to explore their entrepreneurial spirit, highlighting the potential for financial stability and independence. Pastor Jombe followed, urging women to start projects, citing biblical examples of industrious women, and sharing her own experiences farming green peppers and cucumbers.
Sister Lorraine, an English teacher from Nyanga area, stressed education empowerment, urging women to leverage the internet for job opportunities. She shared her personal struggles and successes, inspiring others to do the same, and encouraging attendees to make the most of social media. She was followed by Sister Atabaraka, a Suffi community , who quoted a profound saying from by Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w): “Actions are but by intentions, and every person shall have but that which he has intended.” This powerful reminder emphasized the importance of making good intentions in everything, setting the stage for a day of positivity and growth. Sister Salim highlighted the importance of cleanliness and hygiene for women, while Sister Kimberley, a Christian businesswoman and mushroom farmer, encouraged women to explore various projects, offering free mushroom farming lessons.
The event concluded with Sheikh Mustafa discussing the significance of women in Islam and the holy Prophet’s (s.a.w) teachings about women, emphasizing the importance of respecting and honoring women. This powerful celebration showcased the strength and resilience of women, fostering unity and solidarity among participants, and will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of these empowered women.
